Sexual Health - Services

Northland DHB Sexual Health Promotion team provide a number of services including:

  • Provision of sexual and reproductive health information and resources to the public
  • Distribution of condoms
  • Support, assist and guide the delivery of comprehensive sexual health education programs in high need education institutions and community groups.
  • Provide learning opportunities for people working in the sexual health sector
  • Participation in local events with a Māori and youth focus

Sexual Health Promotion Advisors are based in Whangarei and the Mid-north locations

Provide a free service for under 22 year olds, community service card holders $5.00 and no community services card $27.00:

  • Contraception (including insertion where necessary) – pill, Jadelle, Depo Provera, diaphragms, IUD, Mirena (additional costs)
  • Checks and treatment for Sexually Transmissible Infections (STIs)
  • Emergency contraception
  • Pregnancy tests
  • Pre-pregnancy advice
  • Fertility services and awareness
  • Abortion referrals
  • Cervical Smear Tests
  • Cervical Cancer Vaccine
  • Menopause
  • Gynaecological problems
  • Vasectomy
  • Sexual dysfunction/issues
  • Pre Menstrual Syndrome (PMS)
