We offer our People:

Professional Experience

The health statistics for Northland’s population are poor, particularly for Maori. This provides an array of clinical challenges and exposure to conditions which are rare in other places, e.g. rheumatic fever, tuberculosis and meningococcal disease.

Clinical experience is also varied because most consultants are generalists rather than sub-specialists and see a varied patient population.

Training in a regional centre provides excellent `hands on’ well supervised training.

Whangarei Hospital being relatively small provides junior doctors with a great opportunity to do procedures and manage interesting and challenging clinical conditions.

Friendly Environment
Northland District Health Board hospitals and services offer friendly and supportive work environments. There is a strong camaraderie between staff and a good social life.

Favourable Work Conditions
The present work conditions are very reasonable and more favourable than some other hospitals in New Zealand. Work/life balance is achievable.
