Health Promotion Unit

Health Promotion is the process of enabling people to increase control over and improve their health. Health being holistic (eg wairua, physical, mental, whanau, social) and a resource for everyday life. Health promotion involves a variety of approaches, according to the need of and effectiveness for the priority group. Health promotion approaches generally can be categorised into building healthy public policy, creating supportive environments, strengthening community action, developing personal skills and reorienting health services.

We operate according to the Treaty of Waitangi.
