Media Releases Launch of the Northland Incubator Programme Launch of the Northland Incubator Programme
Wednesday, 03 June 2009
The Northland District Health Board (NDHB) is hosting a Mataraki Hauora Maori EXPO, which commences on 5 June 2009 at 9:30am. The venue is the ASB Leisure Centre, Western Hills Drive, Whangarei. The theme for the EXPO is to encourage Rangatahi (youth) into a career pathway in the Health sector and we would like to invite Rangatahi Year 11, 12 and 13 (and their parents) to come along. During the EXPO the Northland DHB will launch the Incubator Programme. The Incubator is a workforce development initiative to nurture a passion for a vocation in health through the experience and knowledge of people from the health sector. The Incubator programme has had great success with the Hawkes Bay District Health Board Incubator programme a national innovations Health Awards winner 2008. As a workforce development initiative, it was developed for secondary students to nurture an interest for a vocation in health. The Northland incubator programme is based on this model but has a broader health career focus. This Incubator Programme is running in conjunction with the Engaging Taitamariki programme which is committed to helping improve Maori students' educational achievement rates and is supported by Te Puni Kokiri and Ministry of Social Development. Information for Bursary scholarships will be made available at the EXPO and we will also be launching Te Taitokerau Maori Health Scholarship Fund. Ends. For further information contact:
