Media Releases Lifting of public warning: Gathering of shellfish, Snake Bank area Lifting of public warning: Gathering of shellfish, Snake Bank areaNorthland District Health Board's Health Protection Unit advises the public that monitoring of shellfish samples from Snake Bank, Whangarei Harbour, has shown a reduction in the levels of bacteria to below regulatory levels. The public are therefore advised that the warning against taking shellfish from the Snake Bank area and lower Whangarei Harbour has now been lifted. The public is reminded that if in doubt about the safety of shellfish, they should contact the Health Protection Unit. Anyone who becomes ill after eating shellfish should consult their doctor.
