Media Releases New Board members welcomed New Board members welcomed
Wednesday, 23 January 2008
Northland District Health Board's new Board members were formally welcomed to the organisation at a ceremony yesterday, before taking part in an induction day and meeting key staff. Current Board members and DHB staff attended the welcome at Maunu House for Daniel Bolton, Debbie Evans, Colin Kitchen and Tony Norman. Erima Henere was unable to attend. Board Chair Lynette Stewart said: "We welcome our new Board members with a great degree of pleasure and expectancy. It is an absolute pleasure for me to welcome you here to a Board which I believe has already demonstrated its ability to keep the waka on an even keel." Mrs Stewart said the experience brought by existing, long-serving Board members was highly valued. The new members would bring their own wisdom and help create new partnerships which would benefit the people of Northland, and help address the inequalities which have a major effect on peoples' health. Chief Executive Karen Roach, welcoming the new Board members, said: "It is really important that we have a strong and united Board to which we can openly bring issues for resolution. We have a strong executive team, who have a deep commitment to Northland. I am really looking forward to the year ahead and working with you." The new members were given an introduction to the DHB's work and strategic priorities, and will take part in their first Board meeting on 4 February. -Ends- For further information, please contact: Clare Blackburn, Communications Manager Northland District Health Board Phone (09) 430 4101 ext 3315 |
