Meningococcal C Immunisation campaign to start in Northland

Northland District Health Board has announced today that its Public Health Unit will start a school-based meningococcal C immunisation campaign in its district from September 26.

The one-off programme is being introduced to control an outbreak of meningococcal C infection in Northland that has already claimed two lives.

Laboratory results have confirmed a 14-month-old toddler is the seventh meningococcal case in Northland this winter. The toddler is in a ward at Whangarei Hospital and his condition is comfortable.
