What we do
Planning and funding services to meet the health needs of Northlanders
and improve health status is the responsibility of the Service
Development and Funding team. Based in Maunu House at Whangarei
Hospital the service carries out two main functions:
Planning, which consists of:
- assessing health needs, which results in the 3-yearly
publication of the Health Needs Analysis as well as the collection and
management of a variety of information
- developing plans
such as the District Strategic Plan, District Annual Plan and Statement
of Intent, and strategies to guide the development of services to best
meet the needs of the population
Funding, which involves:
- using a prioritisation process to make decisions on how new
health funding should be allocated to meet needs and reduce inequalities
- negotiating and managing about 200 contracts and relationships with over 100 providers in Northland
- receiving reports and information from providers to monitor their performance against their contracts and agreements
The General Manager Service Development and Funding and General Manager
Maori Health, Kim Tito heads the Service Development and Funding team.
