Annual ReportsNorthland DHB High-Level PlansBoard Strategies - AdoptedThe District Strategic Plan is a high level description of NDHB’s funding priorities. Each of these priorities is then developed into a “strategy” that, with stakeholder involvement from throughout the health sector in Northland, analyses each priority in more depth. The strategy documents, once approved by the NDHB Board, are our framework for allocating resources and developing services. They also form the basis for developing our District Annual Plan.Strategy documents with NDHB Board approval are provided here in PDF format for downloading: Child and Youth Health Reports for Northland
Children and young people make up approximately 1/3 of the Northland population and an understanding of the factors that contribute to their wellbeing is vital, not only for ensuring the health status of the current generation of Northland children and young people, but also for ensuring the ongoing health of the Northland population, as each successive birth cohort grows into maturity. Public and Population Health Unit ReportsEncouraging Auahi Kore (Smokefree) Pregnancies In Northland This is a report by the Northland Public and Population Health Unit on the issue of smoking in pregnancy in Te Tai Tokerau (Northland). It estimates the level of smoking in pregnancy in Northland and looks at the levels of support in Northland for pregnant women who smoke. It examines the research evidence around smoking cessation intervention during pregnancy, and best practice points. The report also looks at barriers and enablers to smoking cessation during pregnancy, and issues faced by those who work with pregnant women who smoke. There are a number of recommendations for how planners and providers could encourage more pregnant women to quit smoking. There is a specific focus on reducing inequalities, and effective interventions for Maori.
