Maternity Unit - Bay of Islands Hospital

The maternity unit provides primary care maternity services in the Bay of Islands, with four post-natal beds and two birthing rooms. Bay of Islands Maternity has 3 LMC Midwives that offer continuity of care thought out pregnancy, labour and birth, and post natally with the LMC team. Bay of Islands Maternity also holds the contract to provide core midwifery services.

There is a registered Midwife on duty 24 hours a day and a LMC Midwife on call at all times. The Unit is accredited with Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative and is committed to supporting breast-feeding as first food of choice.

There are weekly Ante-Natal & Post-Natal Clinics held as follows:
