Mental Health and Addiction Services

Northland Mental Health and Addiction's service provides assessment, intervention and support for those experiencing mental illness and/or addiction issues.

The aim of the Service is to minimise disruption to the lives of these people and their families, with services delivered in the community and inpatient services available if necessary. We endeavour to provide services win the least restrictive environment and in a manner which capitalises on the strengths of individuals to enable them to reach their full potential within their chosen community.

The service is structured around multi-disciplinary teams, which utilise a Keyworker system of care of which individualized recovery plans, risk management, discharge planning and service coordination are integral parts. These are developed with clients and their whanau.

Mental Health and Addiction services are provided in each district - Far North, Mid North including Hokianga, Whangarei and Kaipara.
