Juliet Rumball Smith Custom

Juliet is a public health physician and epidemiologist. After completing her public health training and PhD, she had roles in health policy research institutes at McGill University and University of Toronto, before coming to Northland DHB as Medical Officer of Health in 2014. Most recently she was the 2016-17 New Zealand Harkness Fellow in Healthcare Policy & Practice, based at the U.S. think-tank RAND Corp. Juliet has founded a national mentoring network for NZ women in medicine and health, Wāhine Connect.

Her interests include equity in health care and health outcomes, the translation of evidence into clinical practice, quality of care, and the strategic use of health intelligence.
