Chris joined Te Whatu Ora in 2021 to assist with the COVID-19 response; initially taking on Incident Controller responsibilities for Tai Tokerau. As part of this, he led the implementation of care for people with COVID-19 in the community, where he forged strong relationships with Te Whatu Ora teams and partners.

In 2000, after 10 years in banking & finance, he joined the NZ Police and held various operational and strategic leadership roles in Auckland, Dunedin and since 2013 in Northland, where he now lives with his wife and children. 

Chris is proud to bring a skillset that recognises the importance of building and maintaining strategic partnerships, valuing a ‘people first’ approach and placing a high priority on the needs and wellbeing of people in his decision-making.

His experiences in Northland have enabled him to develop a deep understanding of Te Tai Tokerau communities and their unique challenges, placing him in an excellent position to leverage his leadership position and drive positive change for the community. 

Chris was appointed Interim General Manager of Hospital Operations and Support Services in February 2023.
