My name is Penny Franklyn and I have been living in Whangarei for nearly three years after moving up here from the Manawatu. I have had a significant amount of experience with the healthcare system ranging from inpatient to day-stay, outpatient and community services. My interests are particularly in neurology, long-term conditions, mental health and ensuring that different health services work together with the individual to ensure they receive the best care possible.
I joined the Consumer Council as I have always had an interest in Consumer involvement in health services. I have experience in writing and reviewing policies and procedures and spent years as a consumer auditor of health services. I have also been on governance boards for health services.
The Consumer Council brings together people from all walks of life and I’m excited to be a part of it.
