5 to 11-year-olds

-  COVID is very infectious
-  Parents and caregivers have the opportunity to protect their tamariki aged 5 to 11 against COVID-19,
by being immunised with a child (paediatric) formulation of the Pfizer vaccine.
-  The vaccine used for tamariki is a children’s version of the Pfizer vaccine, with a lower dose and smaller volume.

From 17 January there is a dedicated booth at the DHB Kaitaia, Kerikeri, Whangarei and Dargaville vaccination clinics for children 5-11 years of age.  Check with your GP or local pharmacy if they provide this service. Māori Health Providers and Iwi Providers are also working on a plan to provide this service in the community.  Bookings for children 5-11-years open 17 January via BookMyVaccine

A parent, caregiver or legal guardian need to accompany their child to their appointment(s) as the responsible adult and be able to provide consent for them to be immunised.

At the appointment, both the adult and child can ask as many questions as they like.
