Plans to re-open Wards temporarily closed to visitors

Ward 1 at Whangārei Hospital and the General Ward at Dargaville Hospital are currently closed to visitors following some patients testing positive for COVID-19 last week.

  • Ward 1 at Whangārei Hospital will remain temporarily closed to visitors.  However, provided there are no further COVID cases, Ward 1 will re-open to visitors from this Wednesday 27 July under the standard visitor policy (see below).

  • The General Ward at Dargaville Hospital will re-open to visitors from tomorrow, Tuesday 26 July, under the standard visitor policy.

The standard visitor policy is that:

  • A patient may nominate up to two people who can visit them during their stay in hospital.
  • Two nominated people can visit each day, at separate times of the day.
  • Visiting hours are between 11am - 8pm.
  • All visitors must wear a mask.

Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand Te Tai Tokerau thanks patients and visitors for their patience and understanding.
