Public Health Warning Lifted - Shellfish Collection in the Bay of Islands

MPI today removed the public health warning for the collection of shellfish from the Bay of Islands. Results of shellfish flesh testing from this area has shown the shellfish no longer pose a biotoxin risk to public health.

In addition, MPI has reduced the extent of the public health warning on the west coast of the North Island. The warning for paralytic shellfish toxins now extends from Port Waikato south to Awakino. Testing of water and shellfish will continue and any changes will be communicated accordingly.
