Kaitaia

Kaitaia ('where journeys begin') has plenty of attractions on its doorstep: 90 Mile Beach and Aupouri Peninsula, Hokianga Harbour, Karikari Peninsula, Doubtless Bay, Ahipara and Shipwreck Bay!

The landscape around Kaitaia is incredibly diverse, it ranges from flat agricultural land to bush covered hills, endless beaches to sheltered swimming bays and mangrove harbours, desert-like giant sand dunes to rainforest streams.

90 Mile Beach is the tourism icon of the Far North, an amazing 90 kilometre stretch of sand from Ahipara to the Te Paki sand dunes and beyond.

Kaitaia - even though it is inland - is fantastically located for water sports, fishing and boating. You can start your boat trips at two oceanic coasts (Doubtless Bay and Tasman Sea) and two harbours (Rangaunu Bay and Hokianga Harbour) or enjoy the many touristic attractions on offer!
