There are six providers in Te Tai Tokerau that provide throat swabbing in schools. Areas covered in Northland are Kaitaia, Whangaroa, Kaikohe, Hokianga, Kawakawa and Whangarei. Health promotion and a coordinated throat swabbing programme are available to children in decile one to three schools in areas of Northland where Rheumatic Fever rates are particularly high in the community.
