He Tupua Waiora - Pregnancy and Parental Service

He Tupua Waiora - Pregnancy and Parental Service provides free assessment, information, and support to pregnant women and parents of children under three years of age.

We aim to improve the life outcomes for unborn babies and children under the age of three by working with pregnant women and parents with issues around alcohol and drugs.

Our team includes Nurses, Psychiatrists, and Social Workers.

We are a mobile team and can meet with clients in the community.

We can:

  • Assist women to access antenatal care, alcohol/other drug treatment, parenting support and other community and health services
  • Provide education on the effects of alcohol and other drug use during pregnancy and in relation to parenting
  • Work on your behalf to reduce judgment and stigma you might experience from other services
  • Work with you to identify and achieve goals to improve outcomes for your children
  • We can work with whānau and friends in a way that will support you
  • Co-ordinate services to work together so your needs are best met.

This is a free service provided in Whangarei and Kaitaia Far North areas.

We accept referrals from other services or you can call us on: 0800 333 783
