Surgical Ward 3 | Northland DHB

Surgical Ward 3

Ward 3 is a general surgical ward with 26 beds. Various surgical procedures are preformed here, however, not all patients admitted to ward 3 will require surgery.

Ward 3 consists of four, two and single bedded separate sex rooms. Toilets and showers are located in two blocks, across the corridor from the patient rooms. One at each end of the ward. Some of the single rooms have shared ensuites. The dayroom and balcony areas are located at the far end of the ward. Here you will find a TV and some reading material. The nurse’s station is central to all the patient rooms, as is the ward clerk’s desk.

During your day on ward 3, you will be cared for by three different nurses whom each work rostered eight-hour shifts. There is a ward charge nurse available Monday to Friday. Our ward clerk is also available Monday to Friday. Her job includes activities revolving around administration and reception.
