Health Promotion is the process of enabling people to increase control over and improve their health. It is concerned with improving the circumstances in which people live, learn, work and play. Health is holistic, eg. wairua, tinana, hinengaro, and whanau and is a resource for everyday life.
Health promotion involves a variety of approaches, according to the need of and effectiveness for the priority group. Health promotion approaches generally can be categorised into building healthy public policy, creating supportive environments, strengthening community action, developing personal skills and reorienting health services.
