Vision Screening Testing

Trained technicians provide free vision screening testing at:

  • 4 years
  • 5 years (if missed at 4)
  • year 7
  • year 9 in Decile 1-5 schools
Preschool Screening

B4School Check (B4SC)
In preparation for starting school, all eligible 4 year olds have a long vision screening test as a component of their B4SC.

This screening test is carried out in community clinics alongside Public Health nurses or at Early Childhood Centers and home visits:

School Based Vision screening

New Entrant Vision Screening Test
A long vision screening test is provided for all eligible new entrant children who missed having a B4School Check.

Year 7 Vision Screening Test
A long vision screening test is provided for all eligible Year 7 children at school.

Year 9 Vision Screening Test
A long vision screening test is provided for all eligible Year 9 students in Decile 1-5 schools as part of the Year 9 HEADSSS Assessment.
