Northland Medical Museum

Northland's own Health and Medical Museum

Founded by John Swinney FRCA, a retired anaesthetist at Whangārei Hospital, the Northland Medical Museum Trust houses a comprehensive range of medical memorabilia and literature.  It also rotates themed displays of medical objects between cabinets in Northland hospitals and private clinics.

The museum is based at Heritage Park in Maunu and includes thousands of objects, including John Swinney's original collection. They are always looking for additional instruments (old and current) and health care memorabilia to expand display opportunities and themes.

Location

Public entry to the museum is by way of Heritage Park, with private viewings via arrangement with the Curator, John Swinney.
